Hi there! I'm Kim—a stay-at-home mama of two, turned small business owner, and the face behind Salty Mermaid Designs! 💕 I thought it was about time to formally introduce myself and share a little behind-the-scenes peek at how this colorful, creative corner of the internet came to life.

From Full-Time Mama to Full-Time Maker

What started as a fun creative outlet has grown into something I never dreamed possible. You'll often see my little sidekick Easton helping me out (he’s the muscle 💪), and my tiny supervisor Cora is usually nearby, modeling bows or getting into something sparkly! My amazing husband is always cheering me on—he helps behind the scenes when he can and is my biggest supporter through it all.

For the most part, though? I’m a one-woman show! I’ve always loved being crafty and creating, but things really started to take off over the last two years. After leaving my full-time job to focus on IVF treatments and our family, I suddenly had more freedom, less stress, and the time to finally bring all these ideas to life!

The Spark That Lit the Fire

For years, friends and family told me, “You need an Etsy!” or “You should totally start a business!”... and one day I just did. I started creating more and more, and y’all—it took off in the best way. I’m still in awe some days that I get to do this full-time.

The joy I’ve found in crafting custom, heartfelt gifts for others is unmatched. Whether it's something silly, sentimental, or super sparkly, I love being part of your special moments.

What I Love to Create

Gifting is my love language, and I absolutely live for all things custom and personal. From birthdays to holidays, weddings to “just because,” I pour love into every item I make. Some of my favorite things to create include:

This business has given me so much more than a creative outlet. It’s brought me community, purpose, flexibility, and the chance to connect with the absolute BEST group of customers. I love working with local businesses, schools, fundraisers, and families to bring thoughtful, personalized creations to life.

You’ll constantly see new things popping up—because once an idea strikes, I’m one of those “I can make that!” people (and I usually don’t stop until I do 😅 Just ask my husband!).
